PEPPERDINE 2016: Appeared in 14 games on the mound, making 13 starts, as a freshman … Went 3-4 with a 4.58 ERA in 59.0 innings pitched … Struck out 45 batters and walked 20, allowing a .250 opponent batting average … Tossed a season-high 6.0 innings against UCLA (5/10) … Struck out a season-high eight batters against Cal Poly (3/1) in his second collegiate start.
 
HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated from Grace Brethren High School, located in Simi Valley, Calif. ... Played three years of varsity under coach Barry Tolli … As a senior, compiled a 0.54 ERA and 83 strikeouts in 52 innings pitched … Also threw three no-hitters as a senior … Named all-state second team as well as all-league first team.

PERSONAL: Son of James and Kirsten Lucas … Has six younger siblings: Tatum, Branson, Peyton, Grayden, Rilynn and Jackson … Majoring in liberal arts … Chose Pepperdine because “it is a great school with good academics and a great baseball program. The campus is beautiful and close to where I live, so my family can come and watch games. Also, it is a Christian school, which is very important.”
