Crawford & Silhol’s Program Records; Men’s Runner-Up Finish Highlight Cross Country’s UC Riverside Invitational

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Pepperdine cross country seniors Lizzy Crawford and Dominic Silhol set new program records in the women's 6K and men's 8K while the men's team posted a second place finish Saturday morning at the UC Riverside Invitational.
"Today was a breakthrough for our teams," head coach Lauren Floris said. "I'm proud of how each and every athlete executed their race plans. What a day for the Waves!"
Crawford's time of 20:37.0 set a new standard for the program in the women's 6K while Silhol's 23:38.8 mark broke the previous men's 8K record by over 20 seconds.
The men's team placed second in the 8K behind Silhol and Elijah Gentry's top-10 finishes, while the women placed 15th as a team in the 6K.

Beginning with the women's 6K, the Waves finished in 16th place as a team in the field of 30. Crawford led the way again with a top-10 finish (20:37), with Mia Hodgson in 53rd (21:12.4) and Grace Simpson in 85th (21:28.5) also landing in the top-100.
Also scoring for the Waves was Clara Michael at 21:43, Hannah Miller at 22:33.2 and Riley Burgess at 22:49.5. Freshman Presley Pate came in just behind at 22:56.
The men's 8K saw the Waves put up a second-place team finish among the 25 teams in the field, with three Waves finishing in the top-20 individually.
Dominic Silhol (23:38.8) finished in sixth-place to pace Pepperdine, with Elijah Gentry's 23:53.8 mark putting him in tenth place.
Gordy Nilsen also landed in the top-20, finishing in 19th with a time of 24:05.1. Christian Weber (24:29.7) and Rowan Nilsen (24:30.7) crossed the finish line a second apart, earning 40th and 42nd place, respectively.
Max Tsolakis (25:12.9) and Andrew DeYoung (25:24.7) rounded out the strong Pepperdine showing.
In the women's open 5K, Emma Martinez led the way for Pepperdine with a 19:51.4 mark, and was followed by Reese Duralde's 20:13.4 Kennedy Duralde posted a 20:6.6 showing with Avery Smith coming in with a 20:54.5.
The meet concluded with the men's open 8K, as Reed Robinson led the Waves, crossing the finish line in 25:39.5. Noah Harris followed with a time of 25:54.2, with Luke Bremmer coming in with a 26:10 mark. Micah Brighton clocked a 26:30.3, followed by Beckett Sullivan at 27:06.4, Alex Nield at 27:44.1, and Henry Hicks with a time of 28:11.8.

The Pepperdine cross country/track program has a rich history dating back to the 1950s with six total individual national championships to come through the program.
