No. 13 Men's Golf Set to Open 2026-27 Season at Sahalee Players Championship

SAMMAMISH, Wash. - Pepperdine men's golf, ranked No. 13 in the country to start the campaign, is ready for the Sahalee Players Championship to tee off the 2026-27 season.Â

The Waves will officially begin play Saturday at 7:03 am pacific time, when freshman Ayden Fynaut, one of four newcomers, blasts' his first collegiate drive.

The field consists of 11 other teams, including Arizona State, Duke, San Diego State, Illinois, Florida, Cal, Oklahoma State, UCLA, Arizona, North Carolina, and Washington. The 54-hole stroke play (par 72) tournament will begin with 36 holes on Saturday with the final round set for Sunday. The tournament is taking place at the Sahalee Country Club, which totals just over 7,000 yards on the course.

The aforementioned Fynaut joins a pair of other freshmen, Luke Ringkamp and Kailer Stone, while Antoine Jasmin signed with the program on June 9 as a transfer from Oregon State. The Beavers, led by Jasmin, battled Pepperdine in the WCC Championships in the spring, with the Waves taking the crown.

Walsh headlines the returnees for Pepperdine, coming off a career year as a junior in which he averaged a 70.47. The San Mateo, California native also cracked the top-10 on six occasions, and the top-20 in nine different events. He was lauded several accolades in the offseason, including being ranked 10th in the PGA Tour University rankings, being named to the Haskins Award Preseason Watch List, and being tabbed a Golfweek All-American.

Pepperdine is seeking to once again defend its WCC title and make it a three-peat in the spring. The Waves had also won their first NCAA Regional back in the spring to advance to the NCAA Championships for the 15th time in program history.

The blue and orange have a lot of continuity entering this season, returning five players, including Oscar Bach, Luke Dariotis, Carson Kim, Byungho Lee, and Willy Walsh.
