Pepperdine is now 5- 0 in West Coast Conference (WCC) play this season following the victory, and 9-2 against ranked opponents.
"This was a very tough match and environment at USD," noted head coach
Tassilo Schmid following the win. "It's always tough to play there, as they are well coached and compete hard. I thought we could have started better in singles but credit to the team for staying calm and turning sets around. We will continue the good work next week and focus on our last two home matches before the conference tournament."
Duru Söke and
Shihomi Leong opened up doubles play with a quick 6-1 victory on court three, improving to 8-3 this season as a doubles pairing.
The remaining courts saw a pair of new tandems in the Waves' doubles lineup.
