SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The No. 13 Pepperdine men's golf team has started their final regular season tournament on a good note, sitting in a tie for fifth out of 15 following the first round of the Western Intercollegiate.

Byungho Lee, Brady Siravo, and Mahanth Chirravuri all finished the afternoon two-under, part of a seven-way tie for 11th place overall. Lee sank a pair of birdies on the front and back nine, while Siravo started on fire with four birdies on the front nine. He tallied a turkey to start the day, burying three consecutive birdies on holes two through four. Despite a double bogey on 10, Siravo recovered to shoot a 68 (-2) in the first round.

Chirravuri had a similar scorecard as Siravo, shooting three-under through the front nine before being tripped up by a double bogey on 11. He was sharp down the stretch, firing a birdie on 15 and 18 to end the afternoon.

Luke Dariotis sits even headed into Tuesday's second round. He sunk three birdies on the back nine and is tied for 28th overall, along with teammate Carson Kim. He sandwiched a double bogey between a pair of birdies before firing two more on the back nine.

Willy Walsh fell behind early with four bogeys. He was able to notch a birdie on 14 to finish four-over for the day.

Luke Bailey and Oscar Bach rounded out the Waves' lineup, placing in a tie for 75th and 79th place, respectively. Bailey shot six-over and Bach shot seven-over.

Round two begins at 8am tomorrow morning, although the Waves' first tee time isn't until 10:36 am. Golf Channel will begin providing live TV coverage at 4pm.
