SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The No. 13 Pepperdine men's golf team has started their final regular season tournament on a good note, sitting in a tie for fifth out of 15 following the first round of the Western Intercollegiate.

Byungho Lee, Brady Siravo, and Mahanth Chirravuri all finished the afternoon two-under, part of a seven-way tie for 11th place overall. Lee sank a pair of birdies on the front and back nine, while Siravo started on fire with four birdies on the front nine. He tallied a turkey to start the day, burying three consecutive birdies on holes two through four. Despite a double bogey on 10, Siravo recovered to shoot a 68 (-2) in the first round.

Chirravuri had a similar scorecard as Siravo, shooting three-under through the front nine before being tripped up by a double bogey on 11. He was sharp down the stretch, firing a birdie on 15 and 18 to end the afternoon.

Willy Walsh fell behind early with four bogeys. He was able to notch a birdie on 14 to finish four-over for the day.

Luke Bailey and Oscar Bach rounded out the Waves' lineup, placing in a tie for 75th and 79th place, respectively. Bailey shot six-over and Bach shot seven-over.

Luke Dariotis sits even headed into Tuesday's second round. He sunk three birdies on the back nine and is tied for 28th overall, along with teammate Carson Kim.
