Baseball Set For Home-Opening Series Versus Yale

MALIBU, Calif. - It had to wait 10 extra days, but the 2026 home opener for Pepperdine baseball has arrived. The Waves are set to take on the Yale Bulldogs in a three-game weekend series, beginning Friday afternoon at Eddy D. Field Stadium.

WELCOME TO THE SCAVONE SHOW
Tommy Scavone has pitched really well in his first two starts of the season. In 10 innings of work, he has given up just 4 hits (three of which are doubles) and 3 earned runs to the tune of a .121 opponent batting average. He has also tallied 9 strikeouts compared to just 4 walks.

ZACH ATTACK
As one of the many underclassmen on Pepperdine's roster, sophomore utilityman Zach Woodson has made an immediate impact for the Waves in 2026. He's recorded a .294 batting average and .926 OPS in 17 at-bats. He's tallied five hits and scored a pair of runs while posting a solid .455 on-base percentage.

Despite a 1-6 start, Pepperdine has outhit their opponent in four of the first seven contests.

NASH IS MASHING
In limited at-bats (10) to begin 2026, freshman utilityman Nash Horton has also been delivering at the plate. The catcher/outfielder has recorded a .300 batting average, plating three runs and scoring two himself.

Junior pitcher Kam Croghan has been solid out of the bullpen for the Waves. In 3.1 innings of work, he has surrendered just two hits, 1 run (earned), and sat down five while walking none. His 0.60 WHIP is currently the best on the team.

LAXA GOT POP
Junior infielder Kai Laxa hit his first home run of the 2026 campaign on Sunday 2/22 at Fresno State, which marked his ninth career blast. Laxa hit a career-best six homers last season at West Valley College.

LA's VERY OWN JAMES
Freshman first baseman/outfielder James Dell'Amico is having an incredible start to the 2026 season. The Los Angeles, California native is hitting a whopping .333 in 21 at-bats, cracking seven hits (all singles) while scoring two runs. He has an on-base percentage of .333 and has seven total bases, which ranks as the fourth-best on the squad.

DYNAMIC DUO
In 16 combined innings of work so far this season between long reliever Casey Euper and starting pitcher Tommy Scavone, the duo has combined for a 2.70 ERA, 0.74 WHIP, five walks, 12 strikeouts, and a blistering .144 opponent batting average.
