Baseball Prepares for Weekend Series at Fresno State

FRESNO, Calif. - Pepperdine baseball is ready to get back in action starting Friday night when they visit the Fresno State Bulldogs in a four-game weekend series.

SERIES-LY SPEAKING
Fresno State has a 42-30 edge on the Waves in the all-time series. Pepperdine is 8-15 all-time when visiting Fresno State. The Waves have gotten the best of the Bulldogs lately, winning four of the last five, including the last matchup on May 2, 2018, a 2-0 victory.
 
HITMEN
In last Friday's game at USC, Pepperdine and USC combined for eight hits, all coming from different players. The Waves outhit USCin two contests within the three-game series.
 
HORTON CAN HIT
Freshman utilityman Nash Horton saw limited at-bats in the series against USC last weekend, but made the most of his four plate appearances. He went 2-for-4 and tallied a pair of RBI with one run scored.
 
LET HIM COOK
Sophomore infielder Danny Cook is another returner for Pepperdine in 2026. Cook was on a heater at the plate in 2025, posting a .288 batting average across 132 at-bats. He appeared in 41 of the team's 54 games, making 32 starts. In his somewhat limited time on the diamond, he ranked:

  • 3rd in doubles (7)
  • T-5th in runs scored (11)
  • T-2nd in RBI (21)
  • 5th in total bases (54)
  • 4th in OPS (.700)
