No. 25 Men's Tennis Primed to Host No. 17 Arizona & No. 24 Arizona State

MALIBU, Calif. — No. 25 Pepperdine men's tennis (2-1) returns home to host No. 17 Arizona (4-2) Friday at 3 p.m. and Arizona State (8-0) Sunday at noon. 

The first 100 students in attendance for Friday's match will receive free Chick-Fil-A. Live streaming and scoring for the match can be found here.

Friday's match will not begin before 3 p.m., but 35 minutes after the conclusion of the women's match which is set for noon.

The Waves are coming off a 1-1 weekend at ITA Kickoff Weekend from Tucson. Pepperdine took down No. 20 Florida State, 4-1, before falling 4-2 to LSU. Arizona also fell to the Tigers to begin the week before defeating the Seminoles.

David Fix has led the Waves with a 3-0 singles record split between courts five and six this season, dropping one set in the process. Fix and Gustavo Ribeiro de Almeida have also gone unbeaten at No. 3 doubles, with a 2-0 record on the young season.

Lasse Poertner earned his first ranked singles victory of the season over Florida State, topping No. 50 Erik Schiessl in straight sets. Maxi Homberg picked up his first singles win at flight two against LSU this past Sunday in straight sets. In addition, Edward Winter and Hugh Winter have each begun the season with 1-0 marks in singles.

The Waves boast a 7-5 all-time record against Arizona, as the teams have squared off in four of the past five seasons. The Wildcats hold a 1-3 edge during the span, as the Waves were defeated in Tucson in 2025. Arizona has four singles players currently ranked in the ITA singles rankings, led by No. 4 Jay Friend. 

Against Arizona State, Pepperdine leads the all-time series by a 14-9 margin. The Sun Devils avenged a 4-1 defeat in 2024 in Malibu with a 4-2 victory this past season in Tempe.

Next up, the Waves will host South Florida on Tuesday at 2 p.m. from Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center.
