MALIBU, Calif. – Pepperdine Swim faced the Fresno State Bulldogs across two days of competition, with events concluding this morning. The combined score after Friday and Saturday stood at 294.5–Fresno State and 128.5–Waves. During the meet, five Waves claimed gold and Ansley Halbach broke the longest-standing program record.
"This weekend was a great way to wrap up our Winter Training Camp," said interim head coach Dan Marella. "To have a school record, a couple lifetime bests, and many in-season bests in the midst of our toughest training cycle speaks volumes about the collective buy-in and their mindset this winter. I'm looking forward to a great week of training and getting back to action next weekend."
On day one, Kiana Fan emerged victorious in the 100 free kick. It was the first time that the Waves had competed in the event this season. Her winning time was 1:07.70.
Anna Ryan was the next Pepperdine swimmer to earn first. In the 50 free, she swam from end-to-end at a blistering 23.90.
For the first time in her career, Ansley Halbach added her name to the Waves' all-time standings. She clocked a 17:10.61 in the 1650 free in a bronze effort. Before yesterday, the program's mile mark had not been bested since 1997. Jennifer Antimarino was the previous record-holder at 17:12.96.
After a gusty first day of competition, the score sat at 114–53 in the Bulldogs' favor.
Like her sister, Aliyah Fan also nabbed a first-place finish against Fresno State. She won the 100 fly at 58.04.
Paige Easton took the 200 IM with a time of 2:09.43. In the subsequent event her sister, Elliot Easton, contributed to a winning effort in the 200 free relay. The elder Easton swam from the third spot, with Maile Sullivan as the lead-off, followed by Natalie Do, and anchor Anna Ryan (1:39.26).
The score of the second day was 180.50–75.50, advantage Fresno State.

NEXT UP
Tomorrow at 10:30 a.m., the dive team travels to UCLA for the third and final day of the Bruin Dive Invites. The entire team will take on rival San Diego, Jan. 17 at 10:00 a.m. in Raleigh Runnels. The meet is themed as a Pool Party, with early attendees slated to receive a free beach towel.
