PRESEASON RANKINGS

Pepperdine begins the 2025-26 season ranked No. 15 in the Golf Channel Preseason Rankings and No. 19 in the Bushnell/Golfweek D1 Preseason Poll. The Waves were the top-ranked school from outside the Power 4 ranks in each poll; in fact, they were the lone team from outside the power conferences in the Bushnell/Golfweek Preseason Poll.

MAHANTH CHIRRAVURI

Pepperdine senior Mahanth Chirravuri made a slew of preseason watch lists earlier this fall. Ranked No. 10 in the PGA TOUR University rankings, Chirravuri made the Haskins Award Watch List, Golfweek named him a Second-Team Preseason All-American, plus he was a Third-Team Golf Channel Preseason All-American. He was the lone player from a non-Power 4 institution on all three preseason award lists.

Last year, Chirravuri was a Golfweek and PING All-American after tying for ninth place at the NCAA Championships. He was the seventh Wave in program history to earn a top-10 finish at NCAAs. The 2025 West Coast Conference Individual Champion and Golfer of the Year tied Michael Putnam for the second-most below-par rounds by a Wave in a single season with 23, plus he tied Joe Highsmith and Andrew Putnam for sixth for the most top-10 finishes in a single season with seven.

ROSTER

The Waves bring back six players from the squad that placed 12th at the 2025 NCAA Championships. Mahanth Chirravuri, Brady Siravo and Joshua Koo are the seniors on the squad, while Willy Walsh and Georgia Tech transfer Carson Kim round out the upperclassmen. Luke Bailey and Byungho Lee — both of whom have postseason experience — return for their sophomore seasons, while true freshmen Oscar Bach and Luke Dariotis are joining the team this year.

A standout transfer from Georgia Tech, Kim finished 38th at the NCAA Championships and tied for 18th at the Auburn Regional this past spring. As a freshman, he competed in 12 of Georgia Tech's 13 events and earned match play wins at the NCAA Championship and the East Lake Cup for the Yellow Jackets.

2024-25

The Waves took 12th place at the 2025 NCAA Championships, which was the best finish of any school outside the Power-4 ranks. During the 2024-25 season, the Waves finished in the top-5 in seven of their 13 tournaments and won their 23rd West Coast Conference Championship. The squad finished T-5th at the Southern Highlands Collegiate, 5th at the NCAA Amherst Regional, 4th at the Sahalee Players Championships, 4th at the Southwestern Invitational, 3rd at the Western Intercollegiate, 2nd at the Tindall Invitational and 1st at the WCC Championships.

WAVES ON THE PGA TOUR
Four Pepperdine alumni are currently competing or have earned their PGA Tour cards this season. Sahith Theegala and Andrew Putnam have been playing for multiple years, while Joe Highsmith earned his tour card on the 2023 Korn Ferry Tour, while William Mouw is the fourth Pepperdine alumnus with his Tour card.

BEARD
Former Pepperdine All-American Michael Beard is in his 14th season as the Waves' head coach. He earned the Dave Williams Award as the Division I National Coach of the Year in 2020 after leading the Waves to the #1 ranking before the pandemic cancelled the season, then led Pepperdine to the NCAA title in 2021. He became the first WCC men's golf coach ever to earn WCC Coach of the Year honors three consecutive years (beginning in 2016) and he extended that streak to six straight in 2022 (he and Gonzaga's Mark Few are the only WCC coaches to win six straight Coach of the Year awards). Beard competed for the Waves between 1999-2002 and was a GCAA All-American honorable mention selection in both 2000 and 2002. He was the medalist at the 2000 NCAA West Regional and the 2002 WCC Championships and was a four-time All-WCC first teamer. After playing professionally for several years, he served as an assistant coach at Pepperdine for one season and helped the Waves to make the 2011 NCAA Championships. Beard returned to Pepperdine in December 2012 after spending the previous season-and-a-half as an assistant at Arizona State.
