Pepperdine women's basketball has added a fourth assistant coach in
Makena Mastora ('25), head coach
Katie Faulkner announced Friday.
"We are thrilled to welcome Makena back to our program in this new role," Faulkner said. "As a former player, she embodies what we're about — people, competing, and growth. Her love for the game is unmatched, and she's someone who wants to be around it every chance she gets. We're excited to add her unique perspective and can't wait to see the impact she'll make on our staff and players."
Mastora joins the staff after being an integral piece to the 2024-25 roster for the Waves. The Alameda, Calif. native led the team in rebounds, averaging 4.8 per game. As a part of the coaching staff, Mastora will be a part of Faulkner's second year at the helm.
Prior to Pepperdine, Mastora spent three years as a guard at Saint Mary's. As a new collegiate graduate in May, this is Mastora's first coaching role as she kickstarts her career on the other side of the basketball court.
"I'm so grateful to Coach Katie and the entire staff for the opportunity to return to Pepperdine as an assistant coach," Mastora said. "They have played a special part in my journey, and I'm excited to continue learning, growing, and giving back while being part of such an incredible team. I'm really excited for the season ahead."
Pepperdine opens the season on the road against CSU Fullerton on Nov. 4 before the home opener against Westmont on Saturday, Nov. 8.
