Pepperdine Men's Tennis Releases Fall Schedule

MALIBU, Calif. — The Pepperdine men's tennis team will compete in six regular-season tournaments, plus five pro events this fall, as announced by the program Tuesday.

Four of Pepperdine's six regular-season tournaments will be held in California as the Waves try to earn bids for the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships, which will take place in the fall for the second consecutive year. Like last season, players can earn NCAA postseason bids at select tournaments sanctioned by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. The Waves have two such opportunities on the calendar.

Pepperdine kicks off its fall schedule at the Battle in the Bay Tournament, held in San Francisco from Sept. 11-14. From there, the Waves will play in two more tournaments to wrap up September: the Milwaukee Tennis Classic (Sept. 25-28) and the Sherwood Intercollegiate (Sept. 26-28), the latter of which is held at Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, Calif.

In October, the Waves will make the short drive south to San Diego for the USTA SoCal Intercollegiate Championships from Oct. 9-12.

Postseason bids will be up for grabs at the final two tournaments of the schedule. Pepperdine competes in the ITA Southwest Regionals, hosted by Arizona State from Oct. 9-12. The final opportunity to earn postseason bids is at ITA Sectionals, held in Berkeley, Calif. from Oct. 16-21.

Should any Waves qualify for the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships, they will head to the USTA National Campus in Lake Nona, Fla., from Nov. 18-23. This year is the start of a two-year pilot program of holding the NCAA individual championships at the USTA National Campus.

Last season, rising senior Maxi Homberg became the first Wave to qualify for the postseason under the current format. He went on to become an All-American in singles and reached the round of 16 in the 2024 NCAA singles draw.

The Waves will also compete in five pro-level tournaments this fall. The first will be the Las Vegas ITF Challenger 75, held from Sept. 21-27 at the Darling Tennis Center.

Pepperdine wraps up the month of September at the first of two in-state pro tournaments: the ATP Challenger Tiburon 75, which takes place from Sept. 28 through Oct. 4 in Tiburon, Calif. The second in-state pro event is the Fairfield ATP Challenger, held at Solano Community College in Fairfield, Calif. from Oct. 5-11.

Before the fall season ends, the Waves will head east to play in two more pro events that will be held at Division I colleges. The Charlottesville ATP Challenger 75 takes place on the University of Virginia campus from Oct. 26 through Nov. 1, followed by the Knoxville ATP Challenger 50, held at the University of Tennessee from Nov. 2-8.

In 2025, Pepperdine went 17-11 — including two home wins over top-10 teams — and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the fourth time in five years. Director of Tennis Adam Schaechterle's squad is expected to return six players from last year's lineup in 2025-26.
