MALIBU, Calif.  —  The Pepperdine beach volleyball team went 2-0 at the Pepperdine Dual on Friday.
 
In the morning, the Waves (15-13) defeated Oregon (7-17) 3-2, and in the afternoon, Pepperdine swept Hope International (7-16).
 
OREGON RECAP
Oregon took a 1-0 lead after sweeping court four 21-19, 21-13, but Madison Oriskovich (Santa Barbara, Calif.) and Gabriella Perez (Loomis, Calif.) tied the duel 1-1 with their own two-set win over in slot No. 2 (21-17, 21-18).
 
The Ducks then regained their lead with a 21-15, 21-16 win on court five before the Waves No. 1 pair, Kate Clermont (Burlington, Ontario, Canada) and McKenna Thomas (Laguna Niguel, Calif.), swept their opponents 21-18, 21-14 to tie the duel 2-all.
 
On court three, Emma Eden (Albuquerque, N.M.) and Ella Foti (Madison, Wis.) were headed to a third set after splitting their first two 21-16, 18-21. In the winner-take-all final set, the two pairs traded points and were tied at 5-all, but the Waves duo dominated the rest of the set on their way to a 15-9 victory to clinch the court and the match for Pepperdine.
 
HOPE INTERNATIONAL RECAP
The Waves took a quick 2-0 lead after Oriskovich and Perez swept court two 21-7, 21-9 and Emma Bubelis (Northbrook, Ill.) and Deanie Woodruff (Point Loma, Calif.) won 21-14, 25-23 in slot No. 4.
 
Emi Erickson (Honolulu, Hawaii) and Marley Johnson (Stuart, Fla.) then clinched the duel for the Waves with a dominant 21-10, 21-7 win on court five before Eden and Foti collected their second win of the day (21-9, 21-10) to make it 4-0 in Pepperdine's favor. On court one, Clermont and Thomas rolled to a 21-15, 21-13 win to complete the sweep for the Waves.
