Waves Stifled by Wildcats

TUCSON, Ariz. - The Pepperdine baseball team found themselves down early and could not recover throughout the course of the game.

Pepperdine (3-13) had five hits and four errors compared to 25 hits and just two errors for Arizona (10-4).

BIG WAVES

Freshman Danny Cook (Monument, Colo.) hit a double to knock in one of Pepperdine's two runs on the night.

Redshirt sophomore Max Bernal (Clovis, Calif.) had the other RBI of the night on a single in the sixth inning.

RECAP

The Waves struggled to find any rhythm offensively for the entirety of the game. After the first two innings, Arizona had scored nine and Pepperdine could not find an answer. With four more tacked on by the Wildcats before the Waves responded, by the end of the fifth inning it was 13-0.

After a defensive error and a single by senior Julian Nunez (Encinitas, Calif.), two were with Bernal up to bat. With a single to short, Pepperdine was able to get on the board. Cook's double would score another but after a pitching change on the defensive side, the half inning would end without another run scored for the Waves, down 13-2 by the middle of the sixth inning.

Without another Pepperdine run scored, Arizona scored another eight to beat the Waves 21-2.
