Ryan Barnett and one from
Cole Hartke allowed the Waves to gain momentum on the court, coming within one of the Lopes. Both Dyer brothers added kills to tie the score at 23, and a service ace from

Pepperdine outperformed the opposition, posting 18 kills on a .350 hitting percentage compared to 16 kills on a .289 success rate. The two teams trailed each other throughout the entire set, but Grand Canyon was able to move ahead after going on a 5-2 run at 22-18, where Pepperdine's attacking errors combined with the Lopes' kills proved to change the tide of the match. Barnett added another six kills in the second set while
George Dyer went a perfect three-for-three attacking, but ultimately, Grand Canyon would take set two, 25-20.
Pepperdine maintained its lead throughout the entirety of set three, led by Barnett, who had eight kills on 13 swings. The Waves kept the Lopes to only 12 kills on a .235 clip while adding 14 on a .364 hitting percentage themselves.
