RECAP
Â
Pepperdine came out of the gate swinging, taking a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Two walks to open up the game gave Pepperdine base runners and after a wild pitch scored Rubin, a single dropped into left field by Aude scored senior infielder
Julian Nunez (Encinitas, Calif.) as the Waves jumped ahead 2-0.
Â
Through 4.0 innings pitched, Cole didn't allow a run with only three hits and four strikeouts. Sophomore RHP
Kam Croghan took over in the fifth and two doubles aided the Lancers in scoring four runs, giving CBU a 4-2 lead by the end of the fifth inning.
Â
Without a response from Pepperdine in the top of the sixth, the Lancers continued their offensive tear and with the help of two errors in the bottom half of the inning, CBU scored eight to give them a 10 run advantage.
Â
No traction in the top of the seventh ended the game on NCAA run rules, with a final score of 12-2 in seven innings.
