In the first set, Pepperdine was able to keep UC Santa Barbara to a .029 success rate, while posting a .455 of its own, led by Matt Mazur who had three kills. The Waves only recorded two attacking errors in the set, compared to the Gauchos' nine. The Malibu Roofing Co. was in business, as Pepperdine tabbed 5.5 blocks, with James Eadie leading the efforts, adding four assisted denials of his own. The Waves' strong attacking and blocking allowed them to take set one, 25-16.
During set two, the Gauchos improved their hitting, only having three errors and a .320 hitting percentage, but only had 11 kills, as opposed to the Waves' 16 kills and .462 success rate. Mazur led the attack once again, this time with eight kills on 11 swings, also adding a solo rejection at the net and a service ace. Jacob Reilly led the defensive efforts for Pepperdine, with four digs and five serve receptions during the second set. Pepperdine maintained its lead throughout the whole set, taking set two, 25-19.
UC Santa Barbara attempted to come back throughout the third set, trailing close to Pepperdine throughout the entirety, but both attacking and service errors would plague the Gauchos' attempt. Mazur tabbed four kills on a .500 hitting percentage, while Reilly was errorless receiving serves, allowing flawless playmaking for the Waves. Ryan Barnett added another three kills on four attempts, while Gabe Dyer had a dump over the net, two digs, and assisted on two blocks. The collective effort from Pepperdine allowed the Waves to take set three, 25-23, and the match, 3-0.
