Women’s Golf Ranked No. 9 in Final Fall National Rankings

MALIBU, Calif. — Pepperdine women's golf ends the fall season ranked No. 9 in the country in the final fall Scoreboard National Rankings released Wednesday.

The Waves surged to the top-10 ranking after a strong fall campaign across three tournaments, which included a second-place finish at the Golfweek Red Sky Classic, fourth-place at the Stanford Intercollegiate and seventh at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate. Pepperdine consistently knocked off top-10 opponents throughout the season to climb up the rankings.

"The team had a great fall," said head coach Laurie Gibbs. "To be nationally ranked No. 9, after not being included in preseason polls, is awesome! Everyone on the team worked hard and improved this fall. We look forward to starting the spring season at the Therese Hession Regional Challenge the first week of February. Our goal is to win the WCC, be a top-5 seed for Regionals and finish strong at the NCAA Championship."

The Waves had standout individual performances throughout the season, finishing with four players ranked within the top 110 in the final Scoreboard individual rankings.

Freshman Kylee Choi finishes the fall campaign ranked No. 13 in the country and first among all freshmen. Choi recorded a pair of top-five finishes to round out the season, placing third at the Golfweek Red Sky Classic before a fifth-place finish at the Stanford Intercollegiate. Choi's 7-under 65 in the third round at Red Sky matched a program freshman record for lowest round as she went on to finish 11 under par for the tournament. She finished the fall with a 70.33 scoring average in nine rounds.

Sophomore Eunseo Choi comes in at No. 36 in the individual rankings after finishing top-20 in each of Pepperdine's three tournaments including a pair of top-10s. Choi was the low Wave to begin the season at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate, finishing tenth at one under par, highlighted by a 3-under 69 in the second round. She went on to finish ninth at the Golfweek Red Sky Classic, beginning the tournament with a 3-under 69 and ending it with a 6-under 66. She went on to finish 20th at the Stanford Intercollegiate at one under par for the tournament behind a 4-under 67 in the second round. Choi finished the fall with a 70.78 scoring average.

Senior Jeneath Wong continued her standout career for Pepperdine as she checks in at No. 78 in the Scoreboard rankings. Wong finished 26th at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate after a strong 1-under 71 final round put her at four over par for the tournament. She went on to add a top-ten finish at the Golfweek Red Sky Classic, finishing seven under par total behind a 5-under 67 in the opening round. Wong rounded out the fall season in 35th at the Stanford Intercollegiate, finishing her fall with consecutive rounds of 71 and 69 to finish three over par for the tournament. Wong wrapped up the fall with a 71.67 scoring average.

Sophomore Grace Anderson rounds out the Waves in the rankings, coming in at No. 110 after a remarkably consistent fall season. Anderson's high round for the season was a 75 as she recorded four of nine rounds under par. After placing 34th at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate, Anderson fired three straight rounds under par to finish 12th at the Golfweek Red Sky Classic at four under par. Anderson wrapped up the fall campaign helping the Waves to their strong team finish at the Stanford Intercollegiate, posting rounds of 72-70-72 to finish in 29th individually at one over par. Her scoring average wrapped up at 72.11 across nine rounds this fall.

The Waves will look to reach their 27th consecutive NCAA Regional in the spring, as the season will kick off at the Therese Hession Regional Challenge from Feb. 1-3 in Palos Verdes, Calif.
