With the 1-0 win over #3 UCLA Sunday afternoon, head coach Tim Ward earns his 300th career win, all coming with the Pepperdine women's soccer program.
In his 31st season at Pepperdine and 27 as head coach, Ward is 300-148-71 (.646) all-time at the helm. Throughout his tenure, Ward has led his team to 22 winning seasons, four West Coast Conference titles, and 13 NCAA Tournament appearances, including four Sweet 16 runs. He has also earned United Soccer Coaches West Region honors as well as WCC Coach of the Year five times.
The women's soccer program was established in 1993 and Ward came aboard as an assistant coach in 1994, being with the program from nearly the beginning. After four years as an assistant, he was elevated to the head coaching spot in 1998.
Ward has been a part of many professional players' journeys, including two Olympians. Roxanne Barker ('13) and Lynn Williams ('15) have each been a part of two Olympic games, Barker for the South African national team and Williams for the United States. Williams has garnered a bronze (2020) and gold (2024) medal, earning one of Pepperdine's nine gold medals and only the second for a female Pepperdine alumna.
Other players of note include Bri Visalli ('18) , who went on to win a National Women's Soccer League Championship with the Houston Dash in 2020 and Anisha Guajardo ('13), who competed in the 2015 World Cup with the Mexican National Team.
Most recently, the Waves made the program's thirteenth NCAA appearance, finishing with a 9-5-5 overall record. Pepperdine fell to the soon-to-be national runner-up Stanford Cardinals in the opening round of the tournament.
This season , Pepperdine is currently 3-2-1 with one of the toughest schedules slated in the country. After finishing second in the WCC, the Waves look for redemption as they seek the first conference championship since 2017.
