MALIBU, Calif.  - The Pepperdine beach volleyball program went 2-0 on the first day of the Waves Tourney.
 
The Waves (14-10) defeated Southeastern Louisiana (10-13) 4-1 in the morning before beating CSU Bakersfield (12-15) 4-1 in the afternoon.

MATCH RECAPS
In the first dual, Pepperdine jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead with a pair of two-set victories as Kristine Briede (Balozi, Latvia) and Madison Oriskovich (Santa Barbara, Calif.) took court two 21-15, 21-9 and Gracie Pedersen (Franklin, Tenn.) and Kaydon Meyers (Scottsdale, Ariz.) won court four 21-12, 21-13.
 
In slot No. 3, Gabriella Perez (Loomis, Calif.) and Sarlota Svobodova (Brno, Czech Republic) would be the pair to clinch the dual for the Waves as they earned a two-set victory on court three, 21-15, 21-18.
 
Emi Erickson (Honolulu, Hawai'i) and Maya McNabney (Ancaster, Ontario, Canada) took court five, 21-19, 21-16 to increase Pepperdine's advantage to 4-0.
 
The Lions would win in slot No. 1 25-23, 23-21 to make the final score 4-1 in favor of the Waves.
 
In the second dual, in slot No. 2, Briede and Oriskovich gave the Waves a 1-0 lead after gutting out a three-set victory 16-21, 21-15, 15-9.
 
The Roadrunners would then tie the match 1-1 after earning their own three-set win on court four, 21-19, 19-21, 15-10.
 
Erickson and McNabney increased Pepperdine's lead to 2-1 after winning in straight sets on court five, 21-10, 21-17.
 
McKenna Thomas and Kate Clermont would be the pair to clinch the dual for the Waves after a dominant two-set victory in slot No. 1, 21-10, 21-11.
 
After dropping the first set 20-22, Perez and Svobodova battled back and took court three as they won the last two sets 21-17, 16-14 to make the final score 4-1 for Pepperdine.
