MALIBU, Calif. - Head Coach Marcio Sicoli and his staff announced today that Marta Vildere will join the Pepperdine beach volleyball team's 2025 roster after recently signing a national letter-of-intent.
Â
"Noelle, Chris and I are very happy with Marta's commitment," said Sicoli. "Marta impressed us on and off the court. We believe that Marta's work ethics and grit to learn will bring an impact to our program right away!
Â
Vildere, originally from Riga, Latvia, attended Riga French Lycée High School. While in high school, she was always at the top of her class and always had grades of either nine or 10 on a grading scale out of 10.
Â
While in Latvia, Vildere trained at the club Beach Box Gepardi for two years and she has plenty of accomplishments to show for it. In 2023 and 2024, She took 33rd place in the U21 World Championships, fifth place in the Latvian Championships, second place in the U20 Riga Championships, had multiple second place finishes in the Lithuanian U20 Championships and took first place in Latvia's inter school competition.
Â
She was a part of the Latvian National rhythmic gymnastics team from the ages of four to 16 before she started playing beach volleyball. Once she picked up beach volleyball, she fell in love with the game in addition to finding success in the sand.Â
Â
"I chose Pepperdine because I want to be challenged academically and athletically because this will help me develop and thrive in the future," said Vildere. "I think that Pepperdine is truly the right place for this development."
