Waves Head North for The Goodwin

MALIBU, Calif. — The Pepperdine men's golf team will travel to San Francisco this weekend to compete in The Goodwin hosted by Stanford.

EVENT INFO —The Goodwin will be held at the par-70 7,193-yard TPC Harding Park Golf Course in San Francisco, Calif. There will be 18 holes of golf each day between Thursday and Saturday (March 28-30).Â

Play will begin at 7 a.m. PT each day with tee times off holes one and 10. Live scoring will be available on Golfstat with links found on www.PepperdineWaves.com.

FIELD — The tournament field includes 31 teams, including five teams ranked among Spikemark's top-25 rankings. Playing alongside the Waves are #8 Tennessee, #15 Georgia Tech, #20 Cal, #22 Georgia, and #24 Oregon. The full slate includes Appalachian State, California Baptist, Cal Poly, Clemson, Colorado, Georgia, Howard, Lipscomb, Little Rock, Long Beach State, Oregon State, San Diego State, San Diego, San Jose State, Santa Clara Stanford, TCU, Tennessee, UC Davis, UCLA, Nevada, USC, San Francisco, Utah, Utah Tech and Washington State.

EVENT HISTORY — This is Pepperdine's 16th appearance at The Goodwin event. The Waves played in three-straight from 2015-17. The team has had two second-place finishes in both 1996 and 2000, and one first-place individual finisher in 1999 – current head coach Michael Beard. The team last appeared in the match in 2021 where they finished in third.

PEPPERDINE LINEUP — Pepperdine's lineup consists of sophomore Mahanth Chirravuri (Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton HS/USC), freshman William Walsh (San Mateo, Calif./Juniper Serra HS), sophomore Joshua Koo (Cerritos, Calif./Cerritos HS/Washington), freshman Kristoffer Kuvaas (Houston, Texas/The Village School) and Brady Siravo (Sacramento, Calif./Jesuit HS).

LAST TIME OUT — The Waves last competed in the Southern Highlands Collegiate in Las Vegas, Nev. at the end of February. The team finished tied for 12th, but had two in the top-25, led by sophomore Mahanth Chirravuri who finished tied for 12th, and William Walsh tying for 21st.

Pepperdine had a three-round score of 879 (282-304-293), and out-shot #4 Arizona State, tournament-host UNLV and TCU throughout the tournament. Chirravuri rallied from a bogey on the 15th with a birdie after the turn and playing out the rest of the round true to par and finished with seven birdies. Walsh tallied 11 birdies, while Joshua Koo marked 12 and an eagle in the tournament.

The Waves also competed in the Saticoy Showdown, finishing in first-place out of six teams. Pepperdine out-shot UNLV in second by 18-strokes. Kristoffer Kuvaas earned his first career win with a 2-under 142 (73-69) after two rounds of action.Â
