Swim and Dive Welcomes Westmont for Dual Meet

MALIBU, Calif. – Pepperdine will play host to Westmont as the Waves and Warriors are set to face off in a dual meet on Saturday morning.

Meet #5 — Pepperdine (0-1) vs. Westmont (0-0) | Saturday, Oct. 26 | 11 a.m. | Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool | Malibu, Calif.

WESTMONT — The Waves are 2-0 all-time against the Warriors in dual meets, having won both contests against Westmont in 2021. The Warriors last came to Malibu just three weeks ago where they competed in the Rodionoff Invite, a meet where the Waves took first out of the four Division I teams competing.
SEATING — Admission to all Pepperdine home swim & dive meets is free. Because of limited bleacher seating, fans may choose to bring a blanket or chair to sit on the hillside. Fans can park in the Firestone Fieldhouse lot. Parking may be limited and guests are advised to arrive early.

ONLINE — The meet will be streamed on Overnght (subscription required) and live results can be found on the Meet Mobile app (subscription required). A link to the stream can be found on the swim and dive team's schedule page on pepperdinewaves.com.

AWARDS — Vivian Vallely earned the MPSF Athlete of the Week award on October 8. Highlighted by her second-place finish with a score of 283.50 in the 3-meter competition on Friday, Vallely qualified for NCAA Zones in the event for the second year in a row. She then earned another second place as she totaled 254.95 points in the 1-meter competition on Saturday.

LAST TIME IN THE POOL — The Waves last competed two weekends ago in Bakersfield, Calif. at the CSUB Sprint Classic and the Roadrunner Invite. Pepperdine swimmers earned nine top-10 finishes on the weekend. The Waves were highlighted by Alexandra Browne who continued her dominance in sprints as she won the 50 free and took third in the 50 fly on Friday afternoon. Other Waves who earned a top-10 finish were AJ Adams (400 IM), Mollie Cho (200 breast), Ansley Halbach (1000 free/400IM) and Emme Spevak (200 fly).

On the diving side, Vivian Vallely continued to impress during her junior campaign, she finished fourth in the 3-meter and second in 1-meter after earning respective scores of 230.50 and 248.

ROSTER BREAKDOWN — The Waves return all three of their All-MPSF second team honorees from last year: Alexandra Browne (50 free), Kylie Taylor (100 back) and Amanda Wong (Platform). Pepperdine also boasts three swimmers who currently hold individual records - Browne (50 free, 100 IM), Taylor (100 back) and Lexi Haymart (500 free). Additionally, the team brings back everyone from last year's record-setting 200 free and 800 free relay teams in Browne, Layla Busquets, Anna Ryan, Taylor, AJ Adams, Lexi Fok, Ansley Halbach and Lindsay Hemming. The complete breakdown of the roster is seven seniors, fourteen juniors, eight sophomores and five freshman, which includes 28 returners and six newcomers.Â
