QUOTABLES
Â
"The divers first meet back after the break was the Bruin Diving Invitational today," diving coach Monique Demaisip said. "The 1-meter and the team event were today. This was our first time competing in the team event, so that was pretty exciting. It's an exhibition event as of now, but we're trying to see how it goes in these settings so that it can hopefully become an official event in the future, which would be huge for our sport. In terms of performance today, in the 1-meter I was seeing a lot of improvements. We are working on consistency at this point in the season as we are leading up to conference. Having a large competition with over 60 participants and a lot of different schools with a long wait in between dives was good preparation for conference and postseason meets. I'm happy with how we did today. In terms of the team event, it was just exciting to get out there and try and put together a team list for the first time. We were also consistent in the team event, but we just need to fine tune some details. Aside from this being a practice for postseason, it was cool to be in a competition with some Big 10 schools such as Wisconsin and Minnesota, which brings great exposure for our program. I'm excited to see how the rest of the season progresses."
