Pepperdine Faces First Big Test of the Fall at ITA All-American Championships

MALIBU, Calif. — The Pepperdine men's tennis team will face its first big test of the fall season at the ITA All-American Championships, held in Tulsa, Okla. starting this Saturday.
The pre-qualifying rounds begin on Sept. 30 and will conclude on Sunday, Oct. 1. The matches will be livestreamed on Cracked Racquets and via Track Tennis; both links can be found on the men's tennis schedule page at pepperdinewaves.com.
Linus Carlsson Halldin (Stockholm, Sweden) and George Davis (London, England) kick off the action for the Waves in the pre-qualifying singles tournament — a 128-player, single-elimination tournament that begins on Saturday. Carlsson Halldin will take on St. John's graduate transfer Martin Bugaj on Saturday at 10 a.m. PT, whereas Davis will take on Drexel junior Hussein El Tawil at 11:45 a.m. PT.

SCOUTING THE WAVES
After a productive weekend at home hosting The Malibu Showdown, the Waves come to Tulsa with several players riding momentum from solid showings against Michigan, Kentucky and Louisville.
Starting his fall season on a promising note, Carlsson Halldin was one of two Waves to go 3-0 in singles play last week. The sophomore won two matches in the fourth position to start his weekend, then he answered the call by routing Louisville's Andre' Steinbach 6-1, 6-0 on court two in the tournament finale.
His doubles partner, George Davis, fought through two three-set battles against Michigan and Kentucky to open the weekend, yet he earned his first singles win as a Wave with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Louisville's Miguel Avendano on Sunday. Both men were successful in doubles, as they went 2-1 over the weekend while playing on court one for the Waves.
