MALIBU, Calif.  – Johnathan Flint and Lizzy Crawford of the Pepperdine men's and women's cross country team have been named the West Coast Conference Men's and Women's Runners of the Week the league announced today. This is the first-time in program history the men and women have garnered the weekly accolade in the same week and the first-time the Waves have earned the honor in back-to-back weeks. Flint was named WCC Men's Runner of the Week on Sept. 12.
 
Crawford (Thornton, Colo./Horizon HS) and Flint (Flower Mound, Texas/Flower Mound HS) led the Waves for the second week in a row. This is the first weekly honor for Crawford and the second for Flint.
 
Crawford, a freshman, earned a 25th-place overall finish out of 172 runners in the women's 6K at the UC Riverside Invitational in a time of 21:07.2, which put her third on the Pepperdine all-time list. Her time was just 28.15 seconds away from the school record, which is 20:39.05 held by Chelsea Wishard and was 9.92 seconds away from passing head coach Lauren Floris (nee Lodge) 6K time which sits second all-time at 20:57.28. This was Crawford's collegiate 6K debut and the first time since 2018 a women's runner has put her name in the top-5 on the all-time 6K list.
 
Flint, a senior, collected a 28th-place finish out of 214 runners in the men's 8K at the UC Riverside Invitational in a time of 24:19.7, which is also a new personal record by 14.1 seconds and moved him from ninth on the Pepperdine all-time list to eighth.
 
Pepperdine has a few weeks before heading to the Bronco Invitational hosted by WCC foe Santa Clara on Saturday, Oct. 14.
