Crawford Earns WCC Cross Country All-Academic Honors; Eight Waves Recognized in Total

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Pepperdine cross country junior Lizzy Crawford was named to the West Coast Conference All-Academic Team, announced today. The Waves saw eight athletes honored in total, with seven receiving All-Academic Honorable Mention.

The men's team saw Elijah Gentry, Henry Hicks, Kaleb McElfish and Patrick Thomas earn honorable mention laurels. Ashley Eagan, Jessica Guardino, and Grace Simpson netted the same recognition for the women's team.

Crawford represents the Waves on the women's all-academic team, a prestigious group of 10 conference athletes. The junior from Thornton, Colo. was the top female finisher in each race this season for the Waves, while also maintaining a perfect 4.0 average in her pursuit of a political science degree. Her season was highlighted by a victory in the Waves Invite (Aug. 29) and setting the fourth-best 6K time in program history (21:04.5). It is the second time she has earned all-academic honors—also being named to the 2024 team.

Selections are chosen by the vote of coaching and athletic staff in the league. To be eligible, an athlete must race in half of the team's events and maintain a 3.2 or above cumulative grade point average. A student's most recently completed term at Pepperdine is what qualifies them for the honor. Therefore, the cumulative GPAs following the spring 2025 term are what were considered during voting. Because of this, true freshman, first-year graduate students and first-year transfers are ineligible for nominations.

The award-winners and the rest of their team will return to represent the Waves during the 2026 track season. A schedule will be announced at a later date.
