LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The Pepperdine women's soccer team dropped 2-0 against the defending NCAA champion #5 UCLA on Friday night at Wallis Annenberg Stadium.
The Waves (2-2-5) and Bruins (6-1) were tied after the first 45 minutes, but two second-half goals for UCLA propelled them to the win.
Taylor Rath had a career-high night in saves with eight and faced a career-high 10 shots on goal.
GOALS
UCLA 54': Quincy McMahon of UCLA crashed into the offensive zone on the left side of the field. As McMahon made her way to the top of the box, she sent off a right-footed shot that hit the post and rolled into the back of the net.
UCLA 63': The Bruins sent a pass from the midfield circle to the left side of the field. UCLA then brought the ball to the top of the box. Pepperdine gained control of the ball, but as the Waves tried to clear the ball, Val Vargas of UCLA intercepted the ball and sent a right-footed shot into the back of the net.
