MALIBU, Calif. – The Pepperdine women's soccer team earned a 1-1 draw against #16 Georgetown on Thursday afternoon at Tari Frahm Rokus Field in the 2023 season opener.
The Waves (0-0-1) and Hoyas (0-0-1) were scoreless for 66 minutes of the game before Georgetown took a 1-0 lead in the 67th minute, but Pepperdine's
Tatum Wynalda scored the equalizer with three minutes left in the match.
GOALS
Georgetown 67': Natalie Means of Georgetown brought the ball into the offensive zone and crashed down the right side of the field. At about 15 yards out, Means sent a right-footed rocket underneath the crossbar, into the back of the net.
Pepperdine 87': Pepperdine was fouled in the offensive zone and earned a free kick. Senior midfielder
Skylar Enge (Cardiff, Calif./Pacific Ridge School) sent the free kick towards the middle of the box where sophomore defender/forward
Kendall Campbell (Palmdale, Calif./Paraclete HS) jumped up and headed the ball to Wynalda (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Westlake HS). In mid-air, Wynalda headed the ball towards the net, which bounced off the left post and rolled over the line to equalize the game.
