BREMERTON, Wash. – The #6 Pepperdine men's golf team shot an 8-under 280 in the second round of the West Coast Conference Championships on Friday, which puts them in third-place heading into the final day tomorrow.
Pepperdine had a two-round score of 564 (284-280) at the par-72 Olympic Course at Gold Mountain Golf Club. BYU shot 15-under in the round to take a 6-stroke lead over Pepperdine, while San Francisco is ahead by 1-stroke. The Waves are 14-strokes ahead of both Santa Clara and LMU.
Three Waves are in the top-15 after two rounds, led by
William Mouw who is 8-under for second-place.Â
Derek Hitchner had a 6-under 66 to lead the squad in the second round and is tied for fourth, while
Sam Choi is tied for 13
th.
PLAYER SCORES
- Senior William Mouw (Chino, Calif./Ontario Christian HS) is in second with a two-day score of 136 (68-68). He is 1-stroke shy of the lead and has had 10 birdies in the tournament, five each day.Â
- Graduate Derek Hitchner (Minneapolis, Minn./The Blake School) is tied for fourth with a 138 (72-66). He marked five birdies and eagled the 14th hole in the second round.Â
- Graduate Sam Choi (Anaheim, Calif./New Mexico) is tied for 13th after a two-round score of 143 (71-72). He has produced four birdies in each round thus far.
- Graduate Luke Gifford (Boca Raton, Fla./South Florida) is tied for 24th with a 147 (73-74). He has posted six birdies.
- Freshman Brady Siravo (Sacramento, Calif./Jesuit HS) is tied for 38th with a score of 153 (75-78) and has posted seven birdies, including two in the round today.
