SERIES HISTORY
Pepperdine has won the last 10 meetings against its Southern California counterpart, not having lost to USC since the 2015 season. In 2022, the Waves defeated USC twice – both in Malibu – and knocked the Trojans out of the NCAA Tournament with a 4-1, second round win last May.

Pepperdine has only played Ohio State four times, with the lone Waves' win coming in the first meeting in 2001. Last season, OSU defeated Pepperdine 5-2 in Columbus. This will be the first meeting between the schools in Malibu.

SCOUTING THE WAVES
Last week, Pepperdine brought home its momentum from the previous week in Florida, blowing past #5 Michigan 4-0 and #35 Oklahoma State 4-1 at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center. The Waves took both doubles points and got singles wins from #19 Savannah Broadus, Bunyawi Thamchaiwat, Nikki Redelijk, Anna Campana and #11 Janice Tjen. Following the weekend, the top-ranked doubles pair in the country, Broadus and Tjen, was named the West Coast Conference doubles team of the week while Broadus was named the league's singles player of the week. Broadus leads the team with a perfect 8-0 dual singles record, while she and Tjen are 8-1 in doubles play this spring. Lisa Zaar is also ranked by the ITA in singles, coming in at #32. She and Thamchaiwat are ranked 38th in doubles.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
USC has gone just 3-3 since starting the spring 4-0. The Trojans have beaten a pair of WCC foes thus far, defeating LMU 4-0 and San Diego 4-3. In the opening weekend of Pac-12 play, USC went up to Washington and split matches there, defeating Washington State on Friday before falling to Washington on Sunday. A host of Trojans are ranked in singles and doubles by the ITA: #4 Madison Sieg, #39 Eryn Cayetano, #61 Snow Han, #24 Naomi Cheong/Han and #34 Cayetano/Sieg.

Ohio State has been battle tested throughout the start of the spring campaign, earning quality wins against Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Tennessee, Auburn and Georgia. The four Buckeye losses came against Michigan, NC State and Texas A&M twice. Three singles players and one doubles pair are ranked by the ITA: #20 Irina Cantos Siemers, #28 Sydni Ratliff, #94 Shelly Bereznyak and #17 Cantos Siemers/Ratliff.
