Impressive Third Round Results in Second Place Finish for Men's Golf

TUCSON, Ariz. – After beginning the third and final round in ninth-place on Saturday, the #9 Pepperdine men's golf team outperformed all teams in the round with a valiant 18-under effort, seeing time in the lead late in the action and eventually ending in second-place.

The Waves finished 23-under overall with a three-round total of 841 (286-285-270).  It's the squad's fourth-consecutive finish in the top-three and the third finish in four tournaments with a first or second place finish.  Pepperdine was only one-stroke away from tournament-host and eventual winner #18 Arizona, while the Waves bested #3 Arizona State by one stroke and #4 Illinois and #22 Oklahoma State by two strokes.   There were nine teams ranked in the Golfstat top-30 overall.

William Mouw finished in third-place with a three-round total of 206 (70-70-66).  He was three shots out of the top spot, which was taken collectively by Jackson Rivera of USC and Zach Pollo of Arizona.  In the Waves' six tournaments this year, it's Mouw's fifth time in the top-10 and his sixth in the top-20.  There were 84 golfers competing, including 17 in the Golfstat individual top-50. Mouw out-played four ranked higher than his current #16 ranking as well.
