LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Pepperdine men's golf team had another solid round on Tuesday at the Southern Highlands Collegiate, finishing 12-under in third place as the team heads into the final round tomorrow.

The Waves shot 2-under in the round to have a two-day total of 564 (278-286) at the par-72, 7,510-yard Southern Highlands Golf Club. Pepperdine is trailing Texas by 4-strokes and North Carolina by 8-strokes. Three Waves are still in the top-20, led by
Sam Choi (T-3),
Roberto Nieves (T-16) and
William Mouw (T-20).

PLAYER SCORES
- Graduate Sam Choi (Anaheim, Calif./New Mexico) is tied for third at 135 (64-71). He shot for an impressive 8-under in the opening round and backed it up with another 1-under performance today. He had four birdies throughout the round.
- Graduate Roberto Nieves (Miami, Fla./Delaware) is tied for 16th with a two-day total of 142 (70-72). He shot even par in the second round and has tabbed six birdies throughout the tournament thus far.
- Senior William Mouw (Chino, Calif./Ontario Christian HS) shot 1-under in the second round to improve his performance from the first, posting a 143 (72-71). He tabbed three birdies today.
- Graduate Derek Hitchner (Minneapolis, Minn./The Blake School) is tied for 38th at 146 (72-74), while graduate Luke Gifford (Boca Raton, Fla./South Florida) is tied for 75th with a 152 (80-72). He rallied back from a tough first day to tab seven birdies in the second round, though a few bogeys had him staying at an even par in the second round.
- Sophomore Ian Maspat (San Diego, Cali./Scripps Ranch HS) is playing as an individual and is also tied for 38th at 146. He shot 2-under in the second round with three birdies, as well as an eagle on the par-4 fifth hole.

The Waves will be paired with North Carolina and Texas once again in the third round, teeing off of hole one at 10:40 a.m.
