LA QUINTA, Calif. – Though some teams will have to finish the second round tomorrow, the Pepperdine men's golf team extended their lead at The Prestige after completing the round 6-under par on Tuesday afternoon.
 
The Waves have a two-round total of 554 (276-278) at the par-71 Greg Norman Course at PGA WEST and lead Stanford by 4-strokes heading into the third and final round.  Three Waves are in the top-10, led by William Mouw who is tied for second.  Sam Choi and Luke Gifford are also tied for seventh and ninth respectively.
 
Though Baylor will have to finish the second, the Waves currently lead the Bears and Texas Tech, by 8-strokes.  Those teams that will have to complete the round will do so at 7 a.m., while the third and final round will commence at 10:30 a.m. in a shotgun start. 
 
PLAYER SCORES

• Senior William Mouw (Chino, Calif./Ontario Christian HS) is tied for second, trailing first by only 1-stroke after compiling a two-round total of 136 (65-71).  After a 7-stroke under par performance yesterday, he shot for par in the second round.  He has marked six birdies overall, including one in the round today and is one of nine competitors to have tabbed an eagle.  Mouw has only bogeyed twice.
• Graduate Sam Choi (Anaheim, Calif./New Mexico) is tied for seventh after a consistent 138 (69-69).  He has tallied five birdies in each round, with four on the front nine in the second round and four on the back nine in the first round.  He and Mouw are tied in the lead for par 3 scoring (-2) amongst all competitors.
• Graduate Luke Gifford (Boca Raton, Fla./South Florida) is tied for ninth with a two-day total of 139 (70-69).  He tabbed five birdies throughout, including three in the second round, all on the back nine. 
• Graduate Derek Hitchner (Minneapolis, Minn./The Blake School) is tied for 23^rd at 142.  He rallied a 73-first round score with a solid 2-under 69 in the second. Throughout both rounds, he has amassed eight birdies, with five in the second round alone.
• Graduate Roberto Nieves (Miami, Fla./Delaware) is tied in 55^th, having posted a 146 (72-74) two-day total.  He has marked three birdies.
