Â
COVERAGE - All WCC-sponsored sports at Pepperdine will be streamed on the ESPN+ app or by heading to ESPN.com/Watch. Pepperdine Hall of Famer Al Epstein continues his streak of 1,167-straight men's basketball broadcasts as he enters his 39th season on the call. Joining him this season will be veteran Waves hoops staffer John Impelman, who begins his broadcast career in the color commentary seat.
Â
TICKETS – Tickets can be bought online-only at PepperdineWaves.com/Tickets. Click here to read Pepperdine's spectator guidelines, including parking guidance and bag policies. As always, students, faculty and staff get in free with a valid Pepperdine I.D.
Â
LAST TIME OUT - The Waves wrapped up the Ball Dawgs Classic in Henderson, Nev. last Friday against a tough New Mexico squad, ultimately falling 90-71 to the Lobos. Michael Ajayi recorded his fifth double-double of the season with 16 points and 13 rebounds as Malik Moore tabbed a career-high 18 points on 4-of-5 three-point shooting.
Â
BUCKETS GALORE – Junior guard Houston Mallette needs a single field goal to reach the 1,000 career-point-mark as he currently sits at 998 total. He will be the 45th Wave to ever pass the milestone and the first since 2021, when current Sacramento Kings wing Kessler Edwards achieved the feat (and finished his Pepperdine career with a total of 1,247 points). Mallette also leads the WCC in scoring with his 19.8 points per contest.
Â
AJAYI ON THE DOUBLE - Junior college transfer Michael Ajayi has accrued five double-doubles through the first eight games of the season, averaging 17.9 points and 11.0 boards per contest (good for 2nd in the WCC in scoring and 1st in rebounding). Recently, Ajayi hit a cool 31 points against UNLV on 66.7% field goal shooting and pulled down 12 rebounds- half of which came on the offensive side. In the Ball Dawgs Classic, the Kent, Wash.-product averaged 19 points and 10.7 rebounds, scoring in double figures in each of the three games played.
Â
UP NEXT – The Waves trek to Boulder, Colorado this weekend to take on the P5 and 18th-ranked Buffaloes on Sunday at 2 p.m. PT before returning home for two-straight home contests next Wednesday and Saturday against CSU Fullerton and UC San Diego, respectively.
