Men's Volleyball Announces 2024 Schedule

MALIBU, Calif. — Jonathan Winder and the Pepperdine men's volleyball program announced the 2024 schedule today.

Pepperdine has 29 matches on the schedule this season, including 17 matches that are to be played in Firestone Fieldhouse.  Of the home matches, there are 10 non-conference bouts with two exhibition matches and seven against Mountain Pacific Sports Federation opponents.

"The Waves have been training well and as we finish up the fall season, we are ready to compete this season," said Winder.  "We get the opportunity to compete in a great competitive conference in the MPSF, which should be as tough as always.

"We have some quality opponents at home in Malibu as well as around the country which will provide additional high-level challenges. We're excited about the group we have this year and are ready to take on the opportunities ahead."

Pepperdine will have five matches against opponents that also competed in the 2023 NCAA Championships.  The Waves will play returning NCAA Champions UCLA in a split home-away series, heading to Westwood on Feb. 14 before returning to Malibu to host the Bruins on Feb. 17.  Pepperdine will face national semifinalist Long Beach State in Long Beach, Calif. on Jan. 26, as well as quarterfinalist Grand Canyon on April 11 and 12 in Phoenix, Ariz.

The season kicks off with two exhibition matches in Malibu against University of British Columbia (Dec. 29), and University of Alberta (Jan. 2).  The Waves will continue the home slate by beginning the regular season with six more matches in Firestone – Fort Valley State (Jan. 3), Morehouse College (Jan. 5), LIU Brooklyn (Jan. 13), Lincoln Memorial (Jan. 14) and McKendree (Jan. 14-15).

Home MPSF matches this season will be against Stanford (Feb. 23-24), USC (Mar. 14), Concordia Irvine (Mar. 16) and BYU (Mar. 22-23). In addition to GCU, Pepperdine's other road matches against league opponents will be against Concordia Irvine (Mar. 2) and USC (Mar. 30).

To round out the non-conference home schedule, Pepperdine faces UC Santa Barbara (Feb. 10) and The Master's (Apr. 5).  The first road matches for the Waves this season will be on a four-game stretch, beginning with the match against Beach, Princeton (Feb. 2), Farleigh Dickinson (Feb. 3) and UCSB (Feb. 8).  Other non-conference away matches will be against CSUN (Feb. 28), Belmont Abbey (Mar. 7) and North Greenville (Mar. 8).

The MPSF Championships will be hosted at USC and will take place in Los Angeles on April 17-20.

Pepperdine ended the 2023 campaign ranked 10th in the AVCA national coaches poll, finishing fifth in the MPSF after going 16-14 overall and 5-7 in the league.

The fall slate closed up last Saturday in Clovis, Calif. as the Waves took on Stanford, UC Irvine and UC Merced for a series of fall matches.
