Waves Head Up North for Cypress Point Classic

MALIBU, Calif. — The Pepperdine men's golf team will close out the fall slate by competing at the Cypress Point Classic, hosted by Stanford and Cypress Point Club, for the first time in program history.
EVENT INFO — The eight-team Ryder Cup-style tournament will be held on Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 30-31) at the Cypress Point Club in Monterey, Calif. There will be 36 holes of golf on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday with six-player lineups. The lineups will stay the same throughout all three rounds.Â
Round one will be foursomes match play, fourball format in round two, and the tournament will close out with singles play on Tuesday.Â
Live scoring will be available via Golfstat.
FIELD — Along with the Waves, the teams competing will be Stanford, Auburn, Arizona State, Texas, Tennessee, Georgia Tech and Illinois.
Pepperdine will go head-to-head with Auburn first, teeing off on hole one beginning at 8 a.m. PT.
PEPPERDINE LINEUP — Pepperdine's lineup consists of sophomores Mahanth Chirravuri (Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton HS/USC) and Joshua Koo (Cerritos, Calif./Cerritos HS/Washington), freshman William Walsh (San Mateo, Calif./Juniper Serra HS), sophomore Brady Siravo (Sacramento, Calif./Jesuit HS) and freshmen Kristoffer Kuvaas (Houston, Texas/The Village School) and Daniel Xu (Richmond, BC, Canada/Hugh McRoberts Secondary School).
LAST TIME OUT — In the third tournament of the season earlier this month, the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate, the Waves finished 10th out of 15 teams. Pepperdine shot a 1-under through 56 holes, amassing an 863 (288-290-285). Mahanth Chirravuri led the squad, tying for third-place with a 207 (70-66-71), shooting under par in all three rounds with a career-best 6-under in the second.Â
THE FALL CAMPAIGN — Pepperdine has competed in four tournaments so far this season. The team opened the fall with an 11th-place finish at the Sahalee Players Championship and continued at that pace after tying for 11th at the Fighting Illini Invitational. The squad finished in 14th at the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational and then most recently had the program's best finish of the season with 10th at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate.
ROSTER — A fresh roster this year features one returner and five newcomers. Sophomore Brady Siravo is the sole returning Wave from last season. Sophomore transfers Mahanth Chirravuri (USC) and Joshua Koo (Washington) joined the squad, plus freshmen Kristoffer Kuvaas (Houston, Texas/The Village School), William Walsh (San Mateo, Calif./Juniper Serra HS) and Curtis Da Silva (Monterey, Calif. (Robert Louis Stevenson School). Most recently, Daniel Xu (Richmond, BC, Canada/Hugh McRoberts Secondary School) joined the squad before the last tournament of the fall. The breakdown is three sophomores and four freshmen.
