Women's Soccer Shuts Out PCH Cup Rival LMU 3-0

LOS ANGELES, Calif.  – The Pepperdine women's soccer team earned its second West Coast Conference shutout of the season after blanking PCH Cup rival Loyola Marymount 3-0 on Wednesday evening at Sullivan Field.

The Waves (6-3-5, 3-1-0 WCC) dominated the entire game and only allowed two shots on target by the Lions (6-7-2, 0-2-2 WCC). Pepperdine took an early lead in the first half thanks to a Skylar Enge goal, and kept the momentum going in the second half as Tori Waldeck found the back of the net twice. The Waves outshot the Lions 15-9. Waldeck collected her second game of the season with two goals and Taylor Rath collected her first WCC solo shutout of her career and her second solo shutout as a Wave.

GOALS

Pepperdine 21': Senior forward Tori Waldeck (Newhall, Calif./Hart HS) sent a cross inside the box that was punched out by the Lions' keeper. As the LMU defender tried to clear the ball, the pass hit off a shin of another defender and rolled right to senior midfielder Skylar Enge (Cardiff, Calif./Pacific Ridge School). Enge then made one move to her right and let a rocket shot go into the back of the net. This was Enge's third goal of the season.

Pepperdine 64': Sophomore midfielder Karina Gonzalez (Sanger, Callif./Hallmark Charter School) passed the ball right outside of the midfield circle to freshman midfielder Ava Verplancke (Irvine, Calif./Portola HS). The ball connected with Verplancke's foot and she then tapped the ball towards Waldeck who was crashing towards the box. The LMU keeper came out and attempted to make the stop, but Waldeck tapped the ball with her left foot past the goalie to get an open net. Waldeck sprinted and, on the move, let a left-footed shot go into the back of the net. This was Waldeck's sixth goal of the season.

Pepperdine 83': At midfield, sophomore midfielder Tatum Wynalda (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Westlake HS) passed the ball with her right foot towards a crashing Waldeck. Waldeck then brought it towards the box and as she crossed the line, she let a right-footed shot go and it found the back of the net. This was Waldeck's seventh goal of the season and second of the game.
