MALIBU, California – The Pepperdine men's tennis team prepares for its first official tournament of the fall, sending a select number of players to the Battle of the Bay, hosted by the University of San Francisco, at the California Tennis Club from Thursday through Sunday, September 22-25.
Â
The format includes a 32-player singles draw and a 16-team doubles draw. There will be back draws for opening round losers in both competitions.
Â
Two Waves – #15 Daniel De Jonge (Vlissingen, Netherlands) and #45 Tim Zeitvogel (Baden-Baden, Germany) – will make the trip up the coast to compete in the annual tournament hosted by a fellow West Coast Conference school.
Â
Last weekend, Pepperdine competed at the Wildcat Invitational hosted by the University of Kentucky. Freshmen Maxi Homberg (Freising, Germany) and Max Wuelfing (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) picked up their first collegiate wins. Homberg and Wuelfing, along with Eric Hadigian (Sacramento, Calif.) and Linus Carlsson Halldin (Stockholm, Sweden), won a pair of matches over three days in Lexington.
Â
Draws and times of the tournament will be released in the coming days.
