MALIBU, California – The Mountain Pacific Sports Federation announced today that the Pepperdine women's indoor track team will be joining the conference beginning with the upcoming 2023 season.
Â
"The MPSF welcomes the Pepperdine women's indoor track and field team as the newest member of our conference," said MPSF Executive Director Foti Mellis. "The Waves will no doubt strengthen our championship field as we continue to build on a successful first season in a world-class facility."
Â
Pepperdine is currently a member of the MPSF in men's volleyball, which has been with the conference since its inaugural 1992-93 academic year, and was a previous member in men's water polo from 1992-2015. The Waves have competed in women's indoor track since 2016 and will participate in a conference championship meet for the first time.
Â
"We are thrilled to be joining the MPSF for women's indoor track and field," said head coach Lauren Floris. "It's going to provide our women with memorable championship experiences and the opportunity to compete against some very talented athletes."
Â
The MPSF Indoor Track and Field Championships is in its 30th edition and will be contested in "The Podium" in Spokane, Wash., for the second consecutive year, from February 17-18, 2023. The championship event currently lines up 17 teams – 11 women's teams and six men's teams across 11 universities from the Big West Conference and West Coast Conference.
Â
The other universities on the women's side with the Waves are BYU, Cal State Fullerton, CSUN, Hawai'i, Long Beach State, Portland, San Francisco, UC Davis, UC Irvine and UC Riverside.
