#6 Women's Tennis Blows Past #25 Stanford

MALIBU, Calif. – The #6 Pepperdine women's tennis program played its first home match in over a month on Sunday afternoon and took control from the start, throttling #25 Stanford 4-1 at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center.

Pepperdine (7-3) took advantage early in doubles, controlling the pace from the beginning as the 15th-ranked pair of Savannah Broadus (Carrollton, Texas) and Janice Tjen (Jakarta, Indonesia) continued their perfect dual season with a 6-3 win on court two. Soon after, Anastasia Iamachkine (Lima, Peru) and Taisiya Pachkaleva (Moscow, Russia), playing their first dual action of the spring together, were 6-3 winners on court three to give Pepperdine the advantage heading into singles. The ranked matchup on court one was abandoned.

In singles, the Waves jumped on Stanford (7-2) by winning four first sets. Iamachkine was the first winner of the day, blowing by Sara Choy on court six to win 6-2, 6-1. Tjen was next to earn a victory, defeating Angelica Blake 7-5, 6-1 on court three to open up a commanding 3-0 lead for the Waves. Needing only one more Wave win, the Cardinal took the ranked matchup on court one but #12 Lisa Zaar (Stockholm, Sweden) claimed a victory in the top-20 matchup on court two, taking down #17 Alexandra Yepifanova 6-2, 6-4 in straight sets to give Pepperdine another ranked win, its fifth of the season.

This is Pepperdine's third win in a row in the series over Stanford and fifth win in the last six meetings dating back to 2016.
