Waves Through 36 Holes at Arizona's NIT

TUCSON, Arizona – The Pepperdine men's golf team opened up Arizona's NIT in a tie for fifth place after 36 holes of play on Friday, while Joey Vrzich and William Mouw are in the top 10.

The Waves have a score of a 16-under 560 (283-277) at the par-72 Catalina Course at the OMNI Tucson National Resort. The Waves are one of four top-10 teams at the event, and there are nine top-30 teams in the Golfstat ratings.

- Senior Joey Vrzich (El Cajon, Calif./Christian HS/Nevada) is tied for ninth place with a 7-under 137 (69-68). His 3-under morning round included four birdies and an eagle, and his 4-under in the afternoon featured five birdies.
- Playing as an individual, junior William Mouw (Chino, Calif./Ontario Christian HS) is also tied for ninth with a 7-under 137 (65-72). He had a 7-under in the first round that was highlighted by nine birdies. His even-par second round had two birdies.
- Senior Derek Hitchner (Minneapolis, Minn./The Blake School) is tied for 15th with a 5-under 139 (69-70). He went 3-under in the morning with five birdies, and 2-under in the afternoon with another five birdies.
- Junior Dylan Menante (Carlsbad, Calif./Sage Creek HS) is tied for 29th with a 2-under 142 (74-68). After posting just one birdie in the first round, he came back with four plus an eagle to shoot 4-under in the second round.
- Freshman Ian Maspat (San Diego, Calif./Scripps Ranch HS) is also tied for 29th with a 2-under 142 (71-71). He had three birdies in each round, plus one eagle during the afternoon round, en route to a pair of 1-unders.
- Senior Joe Highsmith (Lakewood, Wash./Bellarmine Prep) is tied for 82nd at 152 (76-76). Four of his five birdies on the day came in the first round and he added an eagle in the second round.
