GAME RECAP

Pepperdine led off the bottom of the second inning with a walk by Mike Malinchak (Delray Beach, Fla./American Heritage HS). Walczykowski moved Malinchak to third base on a single down the right field line. After the first out, Walczykowski also moved into scoring position on a passed ball. Johnson sent a rocket down the left-field line for a double and scored two runs to give the Pepperdine the early 2-0 lead.

The next five innings were scoreless. Llewellyn kept the Toreros off the board, stranding a runner on third base in the sixth inning, and getting double plays in both the seventh and eighth innings. In the bottom of the eighth, Walczykowski sent one yard over the left-field wall to give the Waves an insurance run to make it 3-0.

Grant Georges (Flower Mound, Texas/Flower Mound HS) relieved Llewellyn in the top of the ninth inning. Georges struck out the first two batters and a fly ball to right field collected the final out of the game and gave Georges his fifth save of the season, which is a career high.
