Men's Golf Places Sixth at Amer Ari

WAIMEA, Hawai'i – The Pepperdine men's golf team finished in sixth place at the Amer Ari Invitational on Saturday.

The Waves had a three-day total of a 34-under 830 (278-270-282) at the par-72 Hapuna Golf Course. The Waves shot 6-under in the final round, but couldn't keep pace with the other leaders and fell from fourth to sixth.

The 34-under was the eighth-best 54-hole score in program history.

- Senior Joey Vrzich (El Cajon, Calif./Christian HS/Nevada) tied for 13th place with a 10-under 206 (69-68-69). His 3-under in the final round featured six birdies. He had 16 birdies for the tournament.
- Junior William Mouw (Chino, Calif./Ontario Christian HS) tied for 30th with a 6-under 210 (70-65-75). He had four birdies on Saturday, and a team-high 17 over the three days.
- Junior Dylan Menante (Carlsbad, Calif./Sage Creek HS) tied for 34th with a 5-under 211 (68-66-77). He had four birdies today.
- Senior Derek Hitchner (Minneapolis, Minn./The Blake School) tied for 42nd with a 4-under 212 (71-73-68). His 4-under final round included six birdies.
- Senior Joe Highsmith (Lakewood, Wash./Bellarmine Prep) tied for 58th with a 1-under 215 (74-71-70). His 2-under today included four birdies.
- Playing as an individual, freshman Ian Maspat (San Diego, Calif./Scripps Ranch HS) tied for 94th at 224 (74-75-75). He had three birdies in the final round.
