MADISON, Wisconsin – After a four-hour match, the #5 Pepperdine women's team was unable to complete the comeback as #8 Oklahoma advanced to the final of the ITA National Team Indoor Championships with a 4-2 win on Sunday afternoon at the Nielsen Tennis Center.
The 24
th-ranked doubles pair of
Savannah Broadus (Carrollton, Texas) and
Janice Tjen (Jakarta, Indonesia) earned a ranked win to start off doubles play, defeating the 47
th-ranked pair of Pisareva/Sleeth 6-1. However, Oklahoma (11-0) took the last two doubles matches at the one and three spots to win the doubles point.

Lisa Zaar (Stockholm, Sweden) was the first winner on court two, registering a convincing 6-4, 6-1 win over the #35-ranked Carmen Corley. Tjen earned a ranked win of her own, defeating #88 Anchisa Chanta 7-5, 6-4 on court four to give Pepperdine (5-2) a 2-1 lead.
The Sooners would not go away, however, as they rallied to take courts five and three in a matter of minutes. Down 3-2, the Waves needed wins from both courts one and six – both going the distance to three sets. While #16
Shiori Fukuda (Tokyo, Japan) took a 5-3 lead in the third set on court one over #15 Layne Sleeth, Oklahoma claimed victory on court six thanks to a third-set tiebreaker to give the Sooners the match win.
