12/14/2022 12:39:00 PM | Track
MALIBU, California – The Pepperdine men's and women's track teams have announced the meet schedule for the 2023 season, which includes a handful of familiar meets from last season.
Â
"Coming off a strong cross country season I'm excited to see what our team can do this spring," said head coach Lauren Floris. "We're excited to return to some of our favorite meets around Southern California and I predict we'll see a lot of school records fall!"
Â
The women's team kicks off the 2023 season with three indoor meets, beginning with the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Collegiate Invitational on Jan. 21 in Albuquerque, N.M. and the Portland Indoor Meet on Feb. 5 in the Pacific Northwest.
Â
The Waves will also compete in the MPSF Championships in Spokane, Wash. on Feb. 17-18 for the first time in program history, as the conference began sponsoring the sport in 2023.Â
Â
Both the men and women will be back in Southern California for a string of meets to begin the outdoor season, starting at the Rossi Relays (Claremont, Calif.) on February 25 and then heading to race in the Occidental Distance Carnival and Spring Break Classic (Los Angeles, Calif.) on March 11. After a week-long break, Pepperdine will head to UCLA for the Bob Larsen Distance Carnival on March 24 and 25. Rounding out March, the Waves will go up through the canyon to compete in the CSUN Invitational (Northridge, Calif.) on March 31 and April 1.
Â
On April 12-15, some runners will race at the Mt. SAC Relays (Walnut, Calif.) while others will participate in the Bryan Clay Invitational (Azusa, Calif.) on April 13-15. The following week on April 22, the Waves will head to Fullerton to run at the Battle in the OC. Pepperdine will have a two-week break prior to heading back to Occidental College (Los Angeles) to race in the Oxy Invite on May 6 and then will conclude the regular season at the APU Last Chance Meet (Azusa, Calif.) on May 12 and 13.
