Failla Earns All-American Status, Doubles Team Falls in Round of 32

LAKE NONA, Florida – Jessica Failla of the Pepperdine women's tennis team obliterated her round of 32 singles opponent 6-0, 6-0 to propel her into the round of 16, giving the Wave the title of 2021 ITA All-American on Monday afternoon in the NCAA Singles Tournament.
Failla and doubles partner Shiori Fukuda were not able to achieve the same feat in the round of 32, however, as the pair fell 7-6(2), 7-6(4) in consecutive tiebreaks.

Daniel/Reami (NCST) def. Failla/Fukuda (PEPP) – 7-6(2), 7-6(4)
UP NEXT
Failla will take on top-seeded Sara Daavettila of North Carolina tomorrow at 9 a.m. PT/12 p.m. ET in the Sweet 16. It will be the second time a Wave and Tarheel have met over the past week, as the Waves took down previously undefeated and top-ranked UNC in the team tournament semifinals. Failla fell on her court during said match, but has yet to face Daavettila.
