PALO ALTO, California – The Pepperdine women's golf team got the NCAA Stanford Regional underway on Monday and the Waves are in 16th place.

Pepperdine shot an opening score of 304 at the par-71 Stanford Golf Course. The top six teams will qualify for the NCAA finals. The Waves are 15 shots back of the cut line.

PLAYER SCORES

Freshman Kaleiya Romero (San Jose, Calif.) is tied for 44th after a 74. She got off to a remarkable start and was tied for the lead at 4-under after 10 holes before running into some trouble down the stretch.
Sophomore Reese Guzman (Kahului, Hawai'i) is tied for 53rd after a 75. Her round began with two birdies and she had four on the day.
Freshman Caroline Hwang (Orlando, Fla.) is tied for 68th after a 77.
Freshman Lion Higo (Gold Coast, Australia) is tied for 75th after a 78.
Senior Megan Dennis (Bedfordshire, United Kingdom) is tied for 81st after a 79. She had one birdie.

UP NEXT

For Tuesday's round two, the Waves will begin on the 10th tee starting at 9:50 a.m. along with Cal Poly and Navy.
