Box Score MALIBU, Calif. – The Pepperdine baseball team fell in its final game of the weekend series to Gonzaga 11-6.
The Waves (12-13, 5-4) hit three home runs in the final two innings, but the Bulldogs (22-13, 11-4 WCC) built up too much of a lead for the Waves to complete the comeback.

- Senior outfielder Reese Alexiades (Manhattan Beach, Calif./Mira Costa HS) continued his hot weekend, going 2-for-4 with a home run and a walk.
- Senior utility Billy Cook (Monument, Colo./Lewis Palmer HS) went 2-for-4 with a home run.
- Senior infielder Aharon Modlin (Irvine, Calif./Woodbridge HS) hit a solo home run in the eighth.

The Waves got the scoring going early in the game on Sunday. After two walks,
Ryan Johnson (Tempe, Ariz./Seton Catholic HS doubled to deep right-center field, scoring Alexiades from second. Then
Connor Bradshaw (New Rochelle, N.Y./Trinity-Pauling HS) grounded out, scoring
Justin Lutes (Las Vegas, Nev./College of Southern Nevada) from third, giving the Waves a 2-0 lead.
Gonzaga answered in the top half of the second with six runs, taking a 6-2 lead through two innings. The Bulldogs added another in the top of the third, extending their lead to 7-2.
An RBI single gave the Bulldogs another run in the fourth, and two more runs were scored in the fifth to give Gonzaga a 10-2 lead through five innings.
The Bulldogs got an RBI-double in the top half of the sixth to extend their lead to 11-2.
Pepperdine got a run across in the seventh inning, as Johnson drew a bases-loaded walk, scoring
Joe Caparis (Palos Verdes Estates, Calif./Palos Verdes HS), who singled to open the inning. Through seven innings, Gonzaga led 11-3.
In the eighth, Cook and Modlin hit back-to-back home runs, cutting the Bulldogs' lead to 11-6 through eight.
The Waves got another home run in the bottom of the ninth, this time from Alexiades, to cut the lead to 11-6, but could not overcome the deficit.
