Men's Golf Finishes Third at The Goodwin

PALO ALTO, California – Joe Highsmith and Joey Vrzich both shot 3-under 67s to help the Pepperdine men's golf team collect a solid third-place finish at The Goodwin on Saturday.

The Waves posted a three-day total of a 2-over 842 (282-285-275) at the par-70 Stanford Golf Course. They entered the day tied for third, and while Arizona State and Stanford were too far ahead to catch, Pepperdine held off a number of teams to keep hold of third.

Pepperdine ended up beating seven of the nine Pac-12 schools in the competition, and all five rival West Coast Conference schools that were there.

PLAYER SCORES
- Junior Joe Highsmith (Lakewood, Wash./Bellarmine Prep) led the Waves for the first time this season with a sixth-place finish. He shot a 6-under 204 (67-70-67). His final round began with an eagle on the par-5 1st hole, and he added three more birdies today. Over the three days Highsmith played the par-5s at 8-under, tied for tops in the field.
- Senior Joey Vrzich (El Cajon, Calif./Christian HS/Nevada) tied for 14th with a 1-under 209 (70-72-67). His 3-under today included four birdies.
- Senior Clay Feagler (Laguna Niguel, Calif./Dana Hills HS) also tied for 14th with a  1-under 209 (72-68-69). His 1-under round on Saturday included two birdies.
- Sophomore William Mouw (Chino, Calif./Ontario Christian HS) tied for 76th at 221 (73-75-73). He had two birdies today.
- Sophomore Dylan Menante (Carlsbad, Calif./Sage Creek HS) tied for 107th at 225 (76-77-72). He had three birdes in the final round.
